Gamespot's Best and Worst of 2004 |
Gamespot has posted their Best and Worst Games of
2004. The have the Best in Class Section, Special
Achievement Awards, Dubious Awards, Genre Awards,
Platform Awards, Game of the Year awards and Readers'
Choice Awards. Mortal Kombat: Deception Won
Best Fighting Game. The Game of the Year and Readers
Choice has not been released yet. Check back for the
updates. I'll post them.
::From the Gamespot article::
The game's online component is easy to jump right into,
and with the additional Archon-like chess mode, you can
drop the game's fighting engine into something a little
bit deeper. The game's characters use a wide variety of
fighting styles, and have special moves that need to be
feared and respected, especially because many of them
open you up to the game's combo system, which can be
very damaging. But the game balances these combos out
pretty nicely with an intuitive combo-breaker system
that gives you three "get out of jail free cards" per
match, letting you get out of a combo or juggle before
things get too serious.

Violent Video Games |
|
Rod Blagojevich, Governor of Illinois has started a web
site,
SafeGamesIllinois.org. This is his proposal to ban
minors from buying violent or sexually explicit video
games. Their is a top 10 list of The Most Violent and
Sexually Explicit Video Games, Mortal Kombat: Deception
is Number 5 on the list. They don't want these games to
stop begin made, they only want adult to be able to buy
these games. I don't think it is video games or TV that
makes kids violent. I think it is how their parents
raised them. |

Shao Kahn in Deception? |
MortalKombat.org found an interesting image of
Mileena fighting Shao Kahn. This image is from The
Chicago magazine Network Eye Magazine.
::From the MortalKombat.org article::
The question that really we must do to us now is: Shao
Kahn will be one of the new personages of MK Deception
Gamecube version, or is hidden in the versions PS2 and
X-box? Although to many are not going they to like the
answer, my opinion is that he is an exclusive personage
of the Gamecube version that will leave, at the moment,
only in the USA and Canada.

1up.com Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks Preview |
1up.com has
posted a new preview of Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. They
have also posted some new images from the game.
::From the 1up.com article::
One of the key ways Paradox
is letting players work together is by having them play on
the same screen in an approach similar to the 3D Gauntlet
games. "The co-op mode is played with both players on the
screen at that same time without a split function,"
Himmerick says. "We worked through a lot of ideas for this
and a split did not let either player see what they needed
to see either vertically or horizontally. A split screen
would be far too limiting considering everything the
Multi-Directional Kombat System can do. Both players have
the same view of action on screen which allows them to
perform huge team combos, help each other when in trouble,
and not get lost in the MK world."

MK: Deception Secret Characters??? |
MortalKombatOnline.com Forum member
8Cravin_Morehead has posted a thread in their forum
stating how to unlock Ashrah, Hotaru for Puzzle Kombat, and
special extended moves for most characters in Kombat mode.
He is also a member of the Brady Games Forum.
::From the MortalKombatOnline.com Forum::
As a new member of section 8 they have decided to release some of the secrets they have encountered already to the public. it has already been announced on their board so I will announce it here***** Im sorry it hasn't been announced on our board Deadman said he would announce it tomorrow*** Sorry But he gave me the go ahead to announce what I knew on other boards. and thats the following.
Ashrahs Puzzle character,
Perform a huge combo either a 3x or 4 times combo I think even a 2x combo will work at hells foundry. If you notice the bird that flies over flies in both directions. This is not random you can figure out when the bird comes out usually when you get ready to recieve a bomb. The bomb is very usefull in creating a combo for this to work. When the bird flies over towards your opponent perform the combo. If you do it correctly (and keep in mind this isn't very easy) the bird will swoop down and circle your opponents head thus making the bird attack you.Which will result in you unlocking Ashrah as a puzzle character.
Hotaru's Puzzle character
Same thing as above except at Sky temple. Make sure to perfomr the big combo using yellow blocks. You'll need to do this when the lightning strikes. so watch it carefully. If you notice on the loading screen you see Hotaru fighting scorpion. This is where we got the info on what color blocks to break. Yellow cause of scorpions costume. Doing this correctly will unlock Hotaru as a puzzle character.
Ther have been several people claiming to know extra special moves but they aren't very special but evidently alot of people dont know about them or do but dont realize them. so I will list them and what they do.
Sub-zero's Cold Shoulder. If you do this correctly sub will slide farther and faster than when done normally. His cold shoulder move is back, forwad + circle. Instead of tapping back press back for a split second than tap forward + circle and hi will slide farther and faster whoopy do right.
Ashrah's spin cycle. Most of you know this but for those who don't do her spin cycle normally than after you press X keep tapping X repeatedly ands she will continue to spin almost 10 seconds more than she usually does.
Darrius' Twisty Kick. This on like the cold should just allows darrius to slide further. Press back for a split second than tap the rest and he will glide further.
Shujinkos Burning Fist. If done correctly shujinko will slide further as well press down for a split second than tap back + Triangle.
Kobras flaming fist. Same as shujinkos and it produces the same result. Some also say his double kickflip move is special too but its not but for those who don't know just tap up + circle twice. Like Johnny cage's move in Deadly Alliance.
Noobsmoke's Slide punch. I don't know the name but this is the move where both noob and smoke pair up and slide punch you. If you press the first button for a split second instead of tapping they will slide further.
Scorpions backflip kick. This move will allow scorpion to backflip further if you press the first button instead of tapping it. It just goes a little bit further nothing to be amazed about.
There are more moves like this that are just improved ones from their original specials all you gotta do is just experiement with pressing instead of quickly tapping to get what you want. As far as Jade's low projectile it is only an ONLINE GLITCH and can only be done online. SO hope this clears everything up goodluck with everything and if you have any questions feel free to ask
Good Day!
p.s As far as the present goes it does nothing so far. its just developer humor. For sh*ts and giggles. Just like when you throw Havik off the sky temple he says oh man this is gonna suck. Or when you throw Ermac off he says suck it or sucker.
Hope all this helps Ill answer any questions I can. This is just what I know and have gathered from deadman. He will post on this tomorrow and I will post anything else I may have missed here tomorrow as well.

More MK: Deception Characters extended moves
|
I found something cool on the Brady Games forum. Brady Games Forum member
SURoutthere has posted that all characters have extended moves.
He posted some of the moves on their forum. I haven't
tested the because I can't right now, I broke my wrist
and my arm is in a cast. So I can't play the game. I
don't know if these work or not. But if some one could
test them and let me know I would appreciate it.
::From the Brady Game Forum::
P means that U have 2 pause for a split second
Sub-Zero- back P forward plus circle
Ashrah- down up plus x, then press x continuosly
Darrius- back P forward plus circle
Ermac-down P back plus square
Kobra- down P forward plus square
Scorpion- back P forward plus square [I'm not sure if this makes the spear go any
faster but it might]
Scorpion- do his flip kick with a P in between the buttons,
[lengthens the distance of flip kick]
Shujinko- He can do his flaming fist much faster with a P in between the buttons.
Shujinko- P in between buttons with his spear 2 make it go faster
Raiden- down P back plus square
Kabal- down P forward plus square [simply makes kabal lean back a
little further when doing his projectile]

Ashrah's Spin cycle. If you keep tapping X after doing
this move she will continue to spin for almost up to 10
seconds longer.
Shujinko's Flaming fists. Which is down back plus
triangle. Instead of tapping Down press down for a
second and then tap back + triangle and Shujinko will
slide further than usually.
Kobras Burning Fists. Same thing goes for Kobra as is
does with Shujinkos flaming fist move. Just press down
instead of tapping it. His double kick flip everyone
should know its just up + Circle and again.
Darrius's Twisty kick can be done where he will go
further. Just press back for a second than tap forward
circle.
Scorpion's Backickflip is the same with the rest of
these people instead of tapping press the button for a
second than tap the rest he will backflip kick a further
distance.
Sub-Zero's cold should will go further than it normally
does if you press back for a second than tap forward you
will see sub slide all the way across the screen and
faster.
Noob-Smoke's move where they pair up and slide punch you
(sorry forget what its called) can be done the same way
as the above by pressing the first button for a second
instead of tapping. They will slide further resulting in
them being able to punch you from a further distance.
